Case study

Domotiko: relaunching a home automation media site, from build to SEO

WordPress · SEO · Content · Email

Domotiko is a media site that explains the smart home in plain words: buying guides, Home Assistant tutorials, Zigbee and Matter protocols, heating. I have been in charge of its web development and digital communication since June 2025.

Context

A media site that had to start again from scratch

The site needed a sound technical base, a steady publishing rhythm and tools to measure and keep its audience, with no advertising budget.

My role

From code to editorial calendar

I look after everything that keeps the site alive day to day.

WordPress rebuild

Kadence theme and native blocks, lightweight pages: PageSpeed mobile score of 95 on the homepage and 99 on articles.

Technical SEO

Yoast, sitemap submitted in Search Console, robots.txt fixed, structured data, indexing requested article by article.

Content and retention

Editorial calendar planned weeks ahead, MailPoet newsletter, Google Analytics 4 with a consent banner.

What I learned

A good site is not enough to be found

In October 2026 the articles were online, fast and well written, but Google did not know them yet: no sitemap had been submitted. Submitting it, requesting indexing and checking the Pages report every week is now my first move on every launch.

I will publish here how indexed pages, impressions and clicks evolve over the coming weeks.

Takeaways

What this project shows

WordPress development

A fast, maintainable site built with WordPress’s native tools.

SEO

An indexing and monitoring method applied to a real site.

Content marketing

A media site published on a steady rhythm, with an audience measured in a GDPR-compliant way.
